Corn Exchange
The Corn Exchange is an historic former pub located in the heart of Crickhowell, cherished by the local community. When plans emerged to convert the building into a mainstream supermarket, village members came together to protect its heritage and secure its future. The project focused on restoring the character of the original structure while giving it a new purpose that would benefit the town. The building was carefully converted into three modern flats above, with three independent retail units on the ground floor. Throughout the renovation, great care was taken to preserve the charm, scale and architectural features that make Crickhowell unique.
Celtic managed the transformation with a sensitive approach, balancing modern construction standards with traditional detailing. The result is a revitalised landmark that continues to serve the community while respecting its history. This project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when local people and skilled contractors work together to protect a town’s character.
